Wine cellar, or wine refrigerator, is starting to become a popular addition in the wine enthusiast’s classy arsenal. Buying a small wine cellar is a better alternative, in terms of convenience and economical, for many wine lovers than actually building a traditional room wine cellar in the basement.
Of course nothing beats the feeling, pride, and prestige of having an actual room wine cellar in the basement, especially for wine connoisseurs and collectors, the simple fact is that most people are not lucky enough to have them pre-installed, especially newer homes, or have the money to build one.
Keeping wines in a constant cooler temperature, like a wine cellar, greatly protect and preserve the delicate texture and taste of the wine from temperature fluctuations. This is especially important when aging fine wine.
Also keep in mind when picking out a wine cellar that you will either need two or dual zone temperature wine cellars if you want red and white wines, as they both require different optimal temperatures. If you only consume one kind of wine, then this is not really an issue, as most people seem to only prefer one or the other, however, it nice to have some on head of the other kind in case of special occasions and guests.
